A warm, comforting stir-fry made with fresh Penji flowers, coconut, and mustard seeds — a traditional Tamil-style side dish.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Celery Farm Penji Flowers, cleaned and petals separated
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- ½ tsp mustard seeds
- 1 dried red chili
- 5–6 curry leaves
- ¼ cup grated coconut
- Salt to taste
- A pinch of turmeric
- Optional: chopped shallots or onions
Instructions:
- Blanch Penji flowers in hot water for 3–4 minutes to remove bitterness. Drain and set aside.
- Heat coconut oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, red chili, and curry leaves.
- Sauté onions if using. Add turmeric and Penji flowers.
- Cook for 4–5 minutes, then stir in grated coconut and salt.
- Serve warm with steamed rice and sambar.
